1. ‘வள்ளலார்-200‘

• வள்ளலாரை சிறப்பிக்கும் வகையில் வரும் அக்டோபர் ஐந்தாம் தேதி சென்னையில் நடைபெற உள்ள விழாவில் ‘வள்ளலார்-200’ என்ற இலட்சினை, தபால் உறையை வெளியிட்டு ஆண்டு முழுவதும் அன்னதானம் வழங்கும் திட்டத்தை முதல்வர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் தொடங்கி வைக்க உள்ளதாக இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை அமைச்சர் சேகர்பாபு கூறினார்.
• இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை சார்பில் அருட்பிரகாச வள்ளலாரின் முப்பெரும் விழாவை சிறப்பாக நடத்துவதற்காக பி.கே.கிருஷ்ணாராஜ்வானவராயர் தலைமையில் 14 உறுப்பினர்களை கொண்ட சிறப்பு குழு அமைக்கப்பட்டது.
• இந்த உலகுக்கு வருவிக்க உற்ற நாளின் 200-வது ஆண்டு அவர் தர்மசாலை தொடங்கிய 156-ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜோதி தரிசனம் காட்டுவித்த 152-ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகியவற்றை கொண்டாடும் வகையில் முப்பெரும் விழா கொண்டாடப்படும் என அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

2. இந்தியாவின் முதல் கடற்பசு பாதுகாப்பகம்

• தமிழக கடலோரப் பகுதிகளில் அழிந்து வரும் நிலையில் உள்ள மிக அரிதான கடற்பசு இனத்தையும் அதன் கடல் வாழ்விடங்களையும் பாதுகாக்கும் பொருட்டு, மன்னார் வளைகுடா, பாக் விரிகுடா பகுதியில் கடற்பசு பாதுகாப்பகம் அமைக்கப்படும் என சட்டப்பேரவையில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
• இந்த அறிவிப்பை செயல்படுத்தும் வகையில் 448 சதுர கிலோமீட்டர் பரப்பில் தஞ்சாவூர், புதுக்கோட்டை மாவட்டங்களில் கடலோரப் பகுதிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய பாக் விரிகுடாவில் கடற்பசு பாதுகாப்பகம் அறிவித்து தமிழக அரசு அறிவிக்கை செய்துள்ளது.
• கடற்பசுவின் சிறப்பு:
• உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய தாவர வகை கடல் பாலூட்டிகளான கடற்பசுக்கள், கடல் புற்களை உண்டு வளர்ந்து வருகின்றன.
• கடற்பசு இனங்களை பாதுகாப்பதனால், கடல் பகுதிகளுக்கு அடியில் உள்ள கடல் பொருட்களை பாதுகாக்கவும், மேம்படுத்தவும், வளிமண்டல கார்பனை அதிக அளவில் நிலைப்படுத்தவும் உதவி செய்கிறது.
• கடல் புல் படுக்கைகள் வணிக ரீதியாக மதிப்புமிக்க பல மீன்கள் மற்றும் கடல் வாழ் உயிரினங்களுக்கு இனபெருக்கம் செய்ய ஏதுவாகவும், உணவளிக்கும் இடமாகவும் உள்ளது.
• இப்போது சுமார் 240 கடற்பசுக்கள் மட்டுமே இருப்பதாக மதிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• அவற்றில் பெரும்பான்மையானவை தமிழ்நாட்டின் கடற்கரையில் காணப்படுகின்றன.

3. உலக திருக்குறள் மாநாடு

• கம்போடியா நாட்டில் விஜிபி உலக தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் கம்போடியா தமிழ்நாடு தொண்டு நிறுவனம், அங்கோர் தமிழ் சங்கம் ஆகியவை இணைந்து செப்டம்பர் 28 முதல் அக்டோபர் மூன்றாம் தேதி வரை உலக திருக்குறள் மாநாட்டை நடத்தி இருக்கின்றன.
• இந்த மாநாட்டை ஒட்டி செப்டம்பர் 29ஆம் தேதி அங்கோர் நகரில் திருவள்ளுவர் சிலை திறக்கப்படுகிறது.

4. முன்னாள் பேரவைத் தலைவர் சேடப்பட்டி முத்தையா காலமானார்

• இவர் கடந்த 1991 முதல் 1996 ஆம் ஆண்டு வரை அதிமுக ஆட்சி காலத்தில் ஜெயலலிதா முதல்வராக இருந்தபோது தமிழக சட்டப்பேரவை தலைவராக பதவி வகித்தார்.
• கடந்த 1977, 1980, 1984, 1991 ஆகிய ஆண்டுகளில் நான்கு முறை சேடப்பட்டி சட்டப்பேரவை தொகுதியில் அதிமுக சார்பில் போட்டியிட்டு வெற்றி பெற்றுள்ளார்.

• இந்தியாவைச் சேர்ந்த நீண்ட தூர நீச்சல் வீரர்களான எல்விஸ் அலி ஹஸாரிகா, ரிமோ சாஹா ஆகியோர் ரிலே நீச்சல் மூலமாக நார்த் சேனல் நீரிணையை கடந்து வரலாறு படைத்தனர்.
• ஐரோப்பிய கண்டத்தில் உள்ள அந்த நீரிணை பகுதியை நீந்திக் கடந்த, இந்தியா மற்றும் ஆசியாவை சேர்ந்த முதல் ரிலே அணி என்ற சாதனையை அவர்கள் எட்டியுள்ளனர்.
• இதில் எல்விஸ் அஸ்ஸாமையும், ரிமோ மேற்கு வங்கத்தையும் சேர்ந்தவர்களாவர்.

1. ‘Vallalar-200’

2. India’s first seaweed sanctuary

3. World Torture Conference

• In Cambodia, VGP World Tamil Association, Cambodia Tamil Nadu Charities and Angkor Tamil Association are jointly organizing the World Thirukkural Conference from September 28th to October 3rd.
• Thiruvalluvar statue is inaugurated in Angkor on 29th September in connection with this conference.

4. Former assembly president Sedapatti Muthiah passed away

• He served as the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 1991 to 1996 during the AIADMK regime when Jayalalithaa was the Chief Minister.
• In the years 1977, 1980, 1984, 1991 he contested and won on behalf of AIADMK in the Sedapatti Legislative Assembly constituency four times.
• In 1999, he was also the Minister of Central Road Transport in the then Prime Minister Vajpayee’s cabinet.

1. Indian swimmers who made history

• Indian long-distance swimmers Elvis Ali Hazarika and Rimo Saha created history by crossing the North Channel in a relay swim.
• They have achieved the feat of becoming the first relay team from India and Asia to swim across the strait in the European continent.
