- இந்திய வம்சாவளியைச் சேர்ந்த அமெரிக்க விண்வெளி வீராங்கனை சுனிதா வில்லியம்ஸ் (1965),
- இலக்கியத்திற்கான நோபல் பரிசு பெற்ற நாவல் ஆசிரியரும் கவிஞருமான சர்வில்லியம் ஜெரால்டு கோல்டிங் (1911) ஆகியோரின் பிறந்த தினம்.
மாநில செய்திகள்
1. இயற்கை வேளாண்மை கொள்கை முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின் வெளியிடுகிறார்
- தமிழகத்தில் இயற்கை வேளாண்மைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் அதிகரித்து வருகின்றன.
- இதை கருத்தில் கொண்டு இயற்கை வேளாண்மையை வளப்படுத்த தனித்த கொள்கை வெளியிடப்படும் என்று தமிழக அரசு அறிவித்துள்ளது.
- பிற மாநிலங்கள் இந்தியாவில் சிக்கிம், ஆந்திரம் உள்ளிட்ட மாநிலங்களில் இயற்கை வேளாண்மைக்கான தனித்த கொள்கைகள் உள்ளன.
- எந்த மாநிலங்களில் உள்ள கொள்கைகள் தமிழகத்துடன் எவ்வாறு ஒத்துப் போகின்றன என்பது குறித்து வேளாண்மை துறை அதிகாரிகள் ஆய்வு செய்துள்ளனர்.
- விவசாயிகள் தாங்களாக முன்வந்து இயற்கை வேளாண்மையில் ஈடுபடுவதற்கு உகந்த சூழலை ஏற்படுத்துவதில் அந்த கொள்கையின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாக இருக்க வேண்டும் எனவும் வேளாண்மை துறைக்கு அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

1. மத்திய நேரடி வரி வருவாய் ரூபாய் ஏழு லட்சம் கோடி
- நடப்பு 2022 – 23 நிதியாண்டின் முதல் அரையாண்டில் மொத்த நேரடி வரி வருவாய் 30 சதவீதம் வரை அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
- நடப்பு நிதியாண்டின் செப்டம்பர் 14ஆம் தேதி வரையிலான காலம் வரை மொத்த நேரடி வருவாய் ரூபாய் 8,36,225 கோடியாக உள்ளது.
- இது கடந்த நிதியாண்டின் இதே காலத்துடன் ஒப்பிடுகையில் 30 சதவீதம் அதிகம்.
- பெருநிறுவன வரியாக ரூபாய் 4.36 லட்சம் கோடியும், தனிநபர் வருமான வரியாக ரூபாய் 3.98 லட்சம் கோடியும் வசூல் ஆனது.
- அதில் சுமார் 1.35 லட்சம் கோடியானது ‘ரீஃபன்ட்டாக’ திரும்ப செலுத்தப்பட்டு விட்டது.
2. அடுத்த சுதந்திர தினத்தில் ஹைட்ரஜன் ரயில் அறிமுகம்
- அடுத்த ஆண்டு சுதந்திர தினத்தின் போது ஹைட்ரஜனை எரிபொருளாகக் கொண்டு இயக்கப்படும் ரயில் சேவை முதன்முதலாக அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட உள்ளது.
- உலக அளவில் ரயில்களை கட்டமைப்பதில் இந்தியா சிறந்து விளங்குகிறது.
- ரயில் தயாரிப்பில் அடுத்த பெரிய நிகழ்வாக ஹைட்ரஜனில் இயங்கும் ரயில் வரும் சுதந்திர தின நாளான 2023 ஆகஸ்ட் 15 அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட உள்ளது.
- உலகின் முதல் ஹைட்ரஜன் ரயில் ஜெர்மனில் கடந்த மாதத்தில் தான் அறிமுகம் செய்யப்பட்டது.
- அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக இந்தியாவில் ஹைட்ரஜனை எரிபொருளாகக் கொண்டு இயக்கப்படும் ரயிலை ஓராண்டு காலத்துக்குள் அறிமுகம் செய்ய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- உலகின் தலைசிறந்த ஐந்து ரயில்களில் ஒன்றாக சமீபத்தில் கண்டறியப்பட்டது.
- மணிக்கு 180 கிலோமீட்டர் வேகத்தில் செல்லக்கூடிய இந்த ரயில் சிறிய குலுங்கல் கூட இல்லாமல் மிக சொகுசாக பயணிக்க ஏற்ற வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.
- ஜப்பானின் புல்லட் ரயில் 100 கிலோமீட்டர் வேகத்தை 55 நொடிகளில் எட்டும் நிலையில், வந்தே பாரத் வெறும் 52 நொடிகளில் அந்த வேகத்தை எட்டி விடும்.

State news
1. Organic Agriculture Policy issued by Chief Minister Stalin
- Opportunities for organic farming are increasing in Tamil Nadu.
- Taking this into consideration, the Tamil Nadu government has announced that a separate policy will be issued to enrich organic farming.
- Other States In India, states like Sikkim and Andhra Pradesh have separate policies for organic farming.
- Agriculture department officials have studied which states’ policies are compatible with Tamil Nadu’s.
- The Department of Agriculture has also been advised that the main objective of the policy should be to create a favorable environment for farmers to volunteer and engage in organic farming.

1. Central direct tax revenue is Rs seven lakh crore
- In the first half of the current financial year 2022-23, the total direct tax revenue has increased by up to 30 percent.
- The total direct revenue till September 14 of the current financial year is Rs.8,36,225 crore.
- This is 30 percent higher than the corresponding period of last financial year.
- Corporate tax collection was Rs 4.36 lakh crore and personal income tax was Rs 3.98 lakh crore.
- Out of which about 1.35 lakh crore has been paid back as ‘refund’.
2. Launch of hydrogen train next Independence Day
- The first hydrogen fueled train service will be introduced during Independence Day next year.
- India excels in building trains globally.
- The next big event in rail manufacturing is to be launched on August 15, 2023, Independence Day, when the hydrogen-powered train will be launched.
- The world’s first hydrogen train was launched in Germany last month.
- As a result, steps have been taken to introduce a hydrogen fueled train in India within a year.
- Recently identified as one of the top five trains in the world.
- This train can travel at a speed of 180 km per hour and is designed to travel comfortably without even the slightest jolt.
- While Japan’s bullet train reaches a speed of 100 km in 55 seconds, Vande Bharat can reach that speed in just 52 seconds.

1. Chennai Open WTA 250 Tennis Tournament
- In the Chennai Open WTA 250 tennis tournament, 17-year-old Linda Furuvirtova from Czech Republic and Gabriela (Canada) Stefanie (Brazil) won the doubles title.
- The doubles and singles finals were held at the Nungambakkam STAD tennis ground as part of the tournament jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu Government TNDA and WDA.
