 1. ஸ்ரீ ரவிசங்கருக்கு காந்தி அமைதி யாத்திரை விருது 

• மகாத்மா காந்தி மற்றும் மார்ட்டின் லூதர் கிங் ஜூனியர் ஆகியோரின் அமைதி மற்றும் அகிம்சைக் கொள்கைகளைப் பரப்புவதில் தொடர்ச்சியான முயற்சியை மேற்கொண்டுவருவதற்காக வாழும் கலை அமைப்பின் நிறுவனர் ஸ்ரீ ரவிசங்கருக்கு ‘காந்தி அமைதி யாத்திரை விருது’ வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

• அமெரிக்காவின் அட்லாண்டா நகரில் நடைபெற்ற நிகழ்வில், அந்நாட்டில் செயல்பட்டுவரும் காந்தி தொண்டு நிறுவனத்தின் சார்பில் வழங்கப்பட்ட காந்தி அமைதி யாத்திரை விருதை அவர் நேரில் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்.  
• இந்நிகழ்வில் மார்ட்டின் லூதர் கிங் ஜூனியரின் மருமகனான ஐசக் ஃபாரிஸ் மற்றும் அட்லாண்டாவில் உள்ள இந்திய துணைத் தூதரகத்தின் அதிகாரி டாக்டர் சுவாதி குல்கர்னி உள்ளிட்டோர் பங்கேற்றனர். 

 2. பேராசிரியர் வெங்கி ராமகிருஷ்ணனுக்கு பிரிட்டனின் உயரிய விருது 

• தமிழ்நாட்டில் பிறந்த பேராசிரியர் வெங்கி ராமகிருஷ்ணனுக்கு பிரிட்டனின் ‘ஆர்டர் ஆஃப் மெரிட்’ என்ற உயரிய விருது அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

• கடந்த 1902-ஆம் ஆண்டு பிரிட்டன் அரசர் ஏழாம் எட்வர்ட் ‘ஆர்டர் ஆஃப் மெரிட்’ விருதை அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார்.  
• அந்நாட்டு அரசர் அல்லது அரசியின் தனிப்பட்ட விருப்பத்தின் அடிப்படையில், பாதுகாப்புப்படைகள், அறிவியல், கலை, இலக்கியம் உள்ளிட்டவற்றுக்கு தனிச்சிறப்பு மிக்க பங்களிப்பு வழங்கியவர்களுக்கு இந்த விருது அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. 
• இந்நிலையில், பிரிட்டனில் உள்ள மூலக்கூறு உயிரியலாளரும் பேராசிரியருமான வெங்கி ராமகிருஷ்ணனுக்கு (70) ‘ஆர்டர் ஆஃப் மெரிட்’ விருது அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அறிவியலுக்கு அளித்த பங்களிப்புக்காக அவரை இந்த விருதுக்கு மறைந்த பிரிட்டன் அரசி இரண்டாம் எலிசபெத் தேர்வு செய்தார். 
• நோபல் பரிசு பெற்றவர்:  
• கடலூர் மாவட்டம் சிதம்பரத்தில் பிறந்தவர் பேராசிரியர் வெங்கி ராமகிருஷ்ணன். 

• அமெரிக்காவில் உயிரியல் படிப்பை மேற்கொண்டார். அதைத் தொடர்ந்து பிரிட்டன் சென்றார். அங்குள்ள கேம்பிரிட்ஜ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் மூலக்கூறு உயிரியல் ஆய்வகத்தின் குழுத்தலைவராக உள்ளார்.  
• ‘உடலில் உள்ள செல்களில் இருக்கும் ரைபோசோம் அமைப்புகள்’ குறித்த ஆராய்ச்சிக்காக வேதியியலுக்கான நோபல் பரிசை கடந்த 2009-ஆம் ஆண்டு பெற்றார். 

மாநாடு 

 1. ஆசியான்–இந்தியா உச்சிமாநாடு 

• ஆசியான்-இந்தியா இடையிலான அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப நிதியத்துக்கு கூடுதல் பங்களிப்பாக 5 மில்லியன் அமெரிக்க டாலர்களை (ரூ.40 கோடி) இந்தியா அறிவித்தது. 
• இந்திய குடியரசு துணைத் தலைவர் ஜகதீப் தன்கர் தலைமையிலான குழு, 3 நாள் சுற்றுப்பயணமாக கம்போடியாவுக்கு வந்தது. தலைநகர் நாம் பென்னில் நடைபெற்ற ஆசியான்-இந்தியா உச்சிமாநாட்டில் ஜகதீப் தன்கர் பங்கேற்று உரையாற்றினார். 
• ஆசியான் கூட்டமைப்பில் புரூணே, கம்போடியா, இந்தோனேசியா, லாவோஸ், மலேசியா, மியான்மர், பிலிப்பின்ஸ், சிங்கப்பூர், தாய்லாந்து, வியத்நாம் ஆகிய நாடுகள் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன. 

இந்திய செய்திகள் 

 1. தனி நபர் வருமானம் 

• தேசிய உணவுப் பாதுகாப்புச் சட்டம் 2013-ஆம் ஆண்டு நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்பட்டது முதல் இந்திய மக்கள்தொகையின் தனி நபர் வருமானம் 33.4 சதவீதம் அளவுக்கு உயர்ந்துள்ளது’ என்று உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தில் மத்திய அரசு தெரிவித்தது. 

• 2013-14 கிராமப்புற மக்கள்தொகையில் 75 சதவீதத்தினரும், நகர்ப்புறங்களில் 50 சதவீதத்தினரும் பின்தங்கிய நிலையில் இருப்பதாக உச்சவரம்பு நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. இந்த நிலை தற்போது குறிப்பிடத்தக்க அளவில் குறைந்துள்ளது. 
• மத்திய அரசுக்கு மிகப்பெரிய மானியசுமையை ஏற்படத்திவருகிறது. இந்தச் சட்டத்தின் கீழ் இதுவரை 4.7 கோடிகுடும்ப அட்டைகள் கூடுதலாக வழங்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. 
• இந்தச்சட்டத்தின் கீழ் தேசிய அளவிலான பயனாளிகள் உச்ச வரம்பு 81.4 கோடியாக நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 
• இதுவரை 79.8 கோடிபேர் இந்தத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் பயனடைந்து வருகின்றனர். சில மாநிலங்கள், அந்த மாநிலங்களுக்கான பயனாளி உச்சவரம்பை இன்னும் பூர்த்தி செய்யவில்லை.  
• அந்த வகையில், இந்தத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் மேலும் 1.6 கோடி பயனாளிகள் சேர்க்கப்பட வாய்ப்புள்ளது என்று மத்திய அரசு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

Award 

  1. Gandhi Peace Pilgrimage Award to Shri Ravi Shankar 

• The ‘Gandhi Peace Pilgrimage Award’ has been presented to Shri Ravi Shankar, founder of Art of Living, for his continuous efforts in spreading the principles of peace and non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. 
• At an event held in Atlanta, USA, he personally received the Gandhi Peace Yatra Award presented by the Gandhi Charitable Organization operating in the country. 

• The event was attended by Isaac Faris, nephew of Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Swati Kulkarni, Indian Consulate in Atlanta. 

   2. Britain’s highest award to Professor Venky Ramakrishnan 

• Professor Venky Ramakrishnan, born in Tamilnadu, has been awarded Britain’s highest award of ‘Order of Merit’. 
• In 1902, British King Edward VII introduced the ‘Order of Merit’ award. 

• Based on the personal preference of the King or Queen of the country, this award is given to those who have made outstanding contributions to the defense forces, science, art, literature, etc. 
• In this case, British molecular biologist and professor Venky Ramakrishnan (70) has been awarded ‘Order of Merit’. He was chosen for this award by the late British Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to science. 
• Nobel Laureate: 
• Professor Venki Ramakrishnan was born in Chidambaram, Cuddalore district. 
• Studied Biology in USA. He then went to Britain. He is the group leader of the Molecular Biology Laboratory at the University of Cambridge there. 

• He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009 for his research on ‘Ribosome systems in body cells’. 

Conference 

   1. ASEAN-India Summit 

• India announced USD 5 million (Rs 40 crore) as an additional contribution to the ASEAN-India Science and Technology Fund. 
• A delegation led by Vice President of the Republic of India Jagdeep Dhankar arrived in Cambodia on a 3-day tour. Jagdeep Dhankar addressed the ASEAN-India summit held in the capital Nampen. 
• ASEAN includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. 

Indian News 

   1. Individual income 

• Since the implementation of the National Food Security Act in 2013, the per capita income of the Indian population has increased by 33.4 per cent, the Union government told the Supreme Court. 
• In 2013-14, the ceiling was fixed at 75 percent of the rural population and 50 percent of the urban population. This situation has now significantly reduced. 
• It is creating a huge subsidy burden on the central government. An additional 4.7 crore family cards have been issued under this Act so far. 

• Under this Act, the national level beneficiary ceiling has been fixed at 81.4 crores. 
• So far 79.8 crore people are benefited under this scheme. Some states have not yet met the beneficiary ceiling for those states. 
• According to the central government, 1.6 crore more beneficiaries are likely to be included under this scheme.
