- அண்டை நாடான பாகிஸ்தானில் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள கடும் பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியால் அந்நிய செலவாணி மதிப்பு தொடர்ந்து குறைத்து வருகிறது. இந்நிலையில் டீ குடிப்பதற்கு பதிலாக ‘லஸ்ஸி’ மற்றும் ‘சட்டு சர்பத்’ குடியுங்கள் என்று அந்நாட்டு ஆணையம் அறிவுறுத்தியுள்ளது.
- தமிழ்நாடு என்று பெயர் சூட்ட காரணமாய் இருந்த “சிலம்பு செல்வர்”ம.பொ.சி.யின் பிறந்தநாளை முன்னிட்டு தமிழக அரசு சார்பில் அவருக்கு மரியாதையை செலுத்தப்பட்டது. “தலையை கொடுத்தேனும் தலைநகரை காப்போம்” என்று முழக்கமிட்ட ம.பொ.சி. தீவிர எல்லை போராட்டம் நடத்தி திருத்தணி ஆந்திர மாநிலத்தோடு இணைவதை தடுத்தார். இவர் எழுதிய “வள்ளலார் கண்ட ஒருமைப்பாடு” என்ற நூலுக்கு 1966-ம் ஆண்டு சாகித்ய அகாடமி விருது கிடைத்தது.

- In order to protect the rights of children, the National Commission for the Protection of the Rights of the Child has issued draft guidelines on their education, working hours and minimum age.
